Juanita Brooks Historical Preservation Society

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of Juanita Brooks by gathering the history of Southern Utah and the surrounding areas. As we are preparing to open a museum and learning center dedicated to the life and legacy of Juanita, we need all descendants and historians, interested in past and present southern Utah history, to help us gather, preserve, and share their own histories and those of their ancestors. Come and learn from maps of original home locations, cemetery plots, and locations no longer inhabited while you connect to your ancestors. In partnership with St George City and the local historical societies, we are preparing exhibits that show the growth and expansion of Utah's favorite winter vacation spot. We are gather from the treasure trove and also history in the making. We want the Hope Hill Historic Park to be a place of learning, sharing, education, and scholarship. In our Short Creek Heritage Project we are gathering the histories of polygamist families residing in Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Arizona. We need help preserving these valuable pictures and documents before they are lost forever. Please come and learn about this often marginalized yet faithful group of people who long to tell their own stories and preserve their legacy of faith.
