Archivists without Borders / Arxivers sense Fronteres (AsF): Engaging when documentary heritage and archives are at risk
Since its creation in 1998 the AsF (Archivists without Borders) network, comprising several national sections across three continents, has organised numerous projects to safeguard and protect at-risk archives and enable access to them. Based on voluntary work and solidarity, these projects seek to defend individual and collective rights, promote archives as a pillar of democratic transparency and preserve the memory and identity of peoples. These aims are illustrated through projects such as the preservation of the archives of the Sahrawi people, the processing of international adoption files in Côte d’Ivoire and support for associations of families of victims of enforced disappearances in Mexico.
