Astrid Tuminez Keynote: Women Warriors

Dr. Astrid Tuminez became the seventh president of Utah Valley University in 2018. Born in the Philippines, she grew up with her family in the slums of Iloilo City, where her parents continuously sought better educational opportunities for President Tuminez and her siblings. Her pursuit of education eventually took her to the United States, where she received a bachelor’s and master’s degree, as well as a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

From her humble beginnings in the Philippines, to becoming the first female president of Utah Valley University, education has been the way forward for Astrid Tuminez.
