Redcoats and Lobster Backs: tracing British combatants in the American War of Independence

It’s been 251 years since the American Revolutionary War started, and 250 since the Declaration of Independence was adopted. The fighting between the Continental Army and the British Redcoats continued for another seven years until the Treaty of Paris confirmed America’s formal liberation from the dominion of King George III and Great Britain. This talk shows how to you can trace the history of the men who crossed the Atlantic to fight for their King, often against distant relatives who had left Europe to forge a new life of tolerance and freedom.
