Underground Freedom Seekers- Slave Labor Case Studies in the U.S. Mining Industry
No one industry shaped the economy and population expansion of 19th century United States more than Mining. Exponential growth didn't prevent industry segments outside of the antebellum South from leveraging the peculiar institution of slavery to grow the business sector's profitability. This presentation will build attendee's knowledge in two seemingly disparate record sets, offering opportunities to merge prior knowledge of tools and resources to draw new correlations while exploring detailed evidence analysis.
