Astrid Tuminez

Astrid Tuminez became the seventh president of Utah Valley University in 2018. Born in the Philippines, she grew up with her family in the slums of Iloilo City where her parents continuously sought better educational opportunities for Astrid and her siblings. Her pursuit of education eventually took her to the United States, where she received a bachelor’s and master’s degree as well as a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
