Dr. Evelyn McDowell, Ph.D

Hello! I am a passionate family historian, lineage society leader, and the Chair of the Accounting Department at Rider University. As the Chairperson of the Sons & Daughters of the United States Middle Passage, I am deeply committed to preserving, honoring, and uncovering the histories of descendants of enslaved people. My research focuses on deep dives into 19th-century archival records, and I am currently working on my application to become board-certified in genealogy. While I am a CPA and academic by day, my true passion lies in uncovering family roots. Along with my husband, I am also launching the Delta Family Legacy Group. I'm always excited to connect with fellow researchers and share strategies for breaking down brick walls!
