Erik SwierkErik has devoted nearly two decades to historical preservation and family history, transforming a lifelong fascination with the past into a professional mission. From exploring his own family stories to imagining the lives behind forgotten artifacts, believing that preserving history, and the memories that shape it, should be accessible to everyone.
As the Chief Information Officer of Storied, he embraces that family history is more than names and dates. It’s stories, questions, connections, and the color that brings heritage to life. Erik focuses on leveraging technology to help people connect more deeply with their past and present. His work emphasizes honoring, preserving, and sharing stories in ways that are meaningful, modern, and lasting.
Beginning his career with NewspaperArchive, he supported nearly every corner of our organization, microfilm creation, search engine development, content preservation, and more. With 18 years and counting of hands-on experience in both analog and digital preservation, he brings a broad, nuanced understanding of how technology can help safeguard history while making it easier to discover.
