Liz Craig

Liz Craig has been researching her family history for nearly 25 years and has diversified into projects which illuminate the lives of her ancestors. She has four one-place studies, all in England: a street study of a Victorian street, one-place studies of the villages of Sudbourne (Suffolk) and Dunster (Somerset), and a study of The Temple Lodge Home for Inebriate Women (operational 1891-1929) in Torquay, Devon. She is also interested in local history – local to her ancestors as well as herself! Liz is passionate about researching historical context to bring her ancestors’ stories to life.
Liz has been a member of the Society for One-Place Studies since it was founded in 2013 and currently serves on the committee. She is especially interested in rural history, the history of medicine (physical and mental) and women’s history, and is a member of the Few Forgotten Women team.
