2,800 Years: The Jews of Iran

A rich culture of some 2,800 years distinguishes the ancient Jewish community of Iran. Exiled from the Land of Israel by the Assyrians and later by the Babylonians, the community grew in diverse geographical locations. Its history has been marked by forced conversions and returns, by strict antisemitic religious laws, pejorative inheritance laws, as well as prominence in the fields of music, the written word, and later in education, science, and other fields.
