Researching English Agricultural Labourers

This session shows how you can discover more about the lives of your English ancestors who worked in the fields through the centuries. Given the vast majority of the population of England was rural prior to the late eighteenth century, and many continued to earn a living from the land through the nineteenth century, you'll almost certainly have some agricultural labourers in your family tree. The session describes how to identify them, trace where they worked, explore their living conditions, and research some of the issues that impacted their lives over the centuries. It’s written for beginners, though intermediate researchers may also benefit.
