Njörður Siggurðson

Njörður Siggurðson serves as Director of the National Archives of Iceland, where he leads the
preservation, protection, and accessibility of Iceland’s documentary heritage. With a strong
academic foundation in archival science and history, he has dedicated his career to safeguarding
the nation’s historical records and ensuring their relevance in the digital age.

Before assuming the directorship, Siggurðson held senior roles within Iceland’s cultural and
information institutions, contributing to the modernization of archival practices and the expansion of
digital recordkeeping systems. His work focuses on integrating traditional preservation methods
with emerging technologies, making Iceland’s historical documents more accessible to researchers,
