Genealogist, Author & Founder of Our Black Ancestry

Sharon Leslie Morgan

Sharon Leslie Morgan, genealogist and author, is the founder of Our Black Ancestry, an online community dedicated to providing resources for African American genealogical research. In 2019, she received the James Dent Walker award from the Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society, the highest honor given to genealogists in her specialty.

Sharon has not only devoted her life to genealogy, but has also actively fought racism head-on, as detailed in her book “Gather at the Table,” co-written with Thomas DeWolf, a descendent of one of the largest slave-owning families in United States history. Through her research and writing, Sharon has helped countless individuals pave a path toward family discovery.
