Genealogy Society Management: The Four Buckets of Nonprofit Management
Genealogy societies are nonprofits, and the boards of these societies are sometimes unaware of the roles and responsibilities of managing the society’s legal, strategic, financial and programmatic needs. Legal requirements of states and the IRS, as well as accounting practices, planning for the future and documenting society’s work are critical to its sustainability. Learning about these issues can provide a board with key areas to address, to build a bright future.
