Professor of Population Genetics

Pierre Zalloua, Ph.D.

Pierre Zalloua is a population geneticist focusing primarily on the eastern Mediterranean. He is the author of the book, "Ancestors: Identity and DNA in the Levant" (2025). He has a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of California, Davis. He has held academic positions at Harvard University, Khalifa University, the American University of Beirut, the University of Balamand. and the Lebanese American University. He has authored or coauthored more than 180 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He is featured in a documentary film about his work produce by National Geographic entitled "Quest for the Phoenicians".
