Looking for ancestors in the Caribbean – how to go about it
Many people have discovered that they have relatives who settled many years ago in the Caribbean. They may have migrated from Britain, Europe or any other part of the world. They may have lost contact, never to be heard of again. Many have descendants still living there to this day. How do you go about finding information about your ancestors and perhaps tracing their descendants? Where do you begin? By the end of this session, you will be able to plan and make a start on tracing your Caribbean ancestor/s and his/her/their descendants.
In this session, we will discuss:
1. Important things to know about Caribbean history
2. Genealogy tools and resources: how to access them
5. Social networking and contacts
6. Things to keep in mind when researching the unknown
