Genetic Genealogist

Lorie Cousin

Lorie Cousin brings more than three decades of experience in forensic science, leadership, and organizational management to her roles as Secretary of the DNAngels Board of Directors, Director of Operations, and Executive Assistant to the Founder. A retired Forensic Examiner and Supervisory Document Examiner with the FBI Laboratory, she spent over 30 years overseeing case documentation, report preparation, and compliance with federal standards—skills that now support the precision, transparency, and efficiency of DNAngels operations.

Lorie's interest in genealogy began in childhood, watching her father build their family tree. Encouraging him to take a DNA test later revealed new connections to relatives who survived the Holocaust, deepening her personal commitment to family history and truth. Today, as a Genetic Genealogist, she combines her analytical expertise with compassion, mentoring volunteers, managing case reviews, and assisting clients through complex DNA discoveries.

She continues to expand her expertise through advanced coursework and conferences in genetic genealogy and maintains active memberships with the National Genealogical Society (NGS) and the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG). Dedicated to the mission of DNAngels, Lorie applies her forensic precision, organizational insight, and empathy to every case—ensuring each search is handled with accuracy, care, and respect.
